Astronomical compendium, probably 17th century, not signed. A square gilt brass compendium with two outer leaves around a central box, all finely engraved on all faces and contains numerous types of dials, time telling devices, tables, with a loose suspension ring on top of the central box.
On the upper side the corners with engraved decor (lacking large volvelle or part), on the inside a loose volvelle, in the middle a sundial with two volvelles. On the lower side longitud and latitude: LATITV MINOR SEV AVSTRAL and LATITV MAIOR SEV BOREAL / LONGITV MAIOR SEV ORIEN and LONGITV MAIOR SEV OCCID, the inner side of the lid with engraved signs of the zodiac, beneath engraved table of cities ATHEN BVURGOS FLORENZ LISBON ROMA VIENNA VERONA (all together 26 towns), on top of the compass is a circular ring. In the middle a movable compass with old glass marked with their first letters OR ME OC and SE and a gnomon on the opposite side.
Inscriptions in Latin. Measurements 84 x 84 mm. when closed, 175 mm. when opened.
The compendium is not signed or dated, one volvelle is loose (but present) and it is lacking a part on the upper lid. The metal with foxing and oxidation in places, one corner "bumped".
