Book, illustrated with an original etching by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, a full-page color lithograph by Auguste Clot after Renoir, and 51 full-page engraved plates after Renoir with captioned tissue guards; and other illustrations. Published by Ambroise Vollard, Paris 1919. Bound in contemporary red half calf, spine with six compartments with gilt title.
Large, thick quarto (32 x 26 cm). 280 pp
Limited first edition, one of 525 numbered copies on beau papier teinté from a total edition of 1000. The original Renoir etching which serves as the frontispiece is Femme Nue (also titled "Baigneuse Assise," Delteil 11) and bears Renoir's stamped signature.
