Oblong folio. 337 x 505 mm. (2), 12; (2), 13-27, (1); (2), 29-52; (2), 53-61, (1) pp. 60 aquatint engraved plates. Lacks the engraved main title. Engraved musical notes in the text. Green later morocco binding with gilt spine, raised bands, double gilt filets on boards, gilt edges and gilt superexlibris of Gustaf Bernström. Offsetting on a few text-leaves. Closed tear in upper margin of p. 3, closed tear in plate IV (affecting print) and small damage to lower corner. With marbled slipcase.
Bring 315a, Schiötz 966a.The drawings are all made by Skjöldebrand and 31 are also engraved by him, the others engraved by M. Heland, J. F. Martin och C. Agrell. Skjöldebrand travelled together with Acerbi. There are 29 plates with views from Norway. Anders Fredrik Skjöldebrand (1757-1834), Swedish general, artist and traveller. In 1798-99 he accompanied Acerbi and Belotti on their Scandinavian tour to the North Cape. The experience embittered S., who later wrote critically of Acerbi for being ambitious and having plagiarized his illustrations.
