A BLUE AND WHITE SCHOLAR'S DESK ACCESSORY, drumshaped with five openings on the top, decorated with flowering sprays, clouds and painting scrolls. Marked 'Wan fu yu t'ung' (May countless happy events come together), Wanli period (1573-1620), diameter c. 13.5 cm.
PROVENANCE:
The private collection of Dr Gustaf Hilleström (1911-1994).
Included in the exhibition of Ming Blue-and-White, Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, Stockholm, 1964, no. 70, p. 63.
A private collection from Southern Sweden. Purchased during the second half of the 20th century.
