A ‘CIZHOU’ PAINTED MEIPING VASE, the squat ovoid body rising from a recessed base to a short narrow ribbed neck with everted rim, freely painted in dark brown around the shoulder with a broad band of stylised birds in flight, all above a double line and reserved on a creamy-white glazed ground, Jin/Yuan dynasty, 12/13th century, height c. 31 cm.
PROVENANCE: A private collection from Southern Sweden. Purchased during the second half of the 20th century.
No repairs found with UV-light. Wear and firing defects. Loss of glaze. The rim is uneven. Scratches. Please contact elisabet.fellbom@auktionsverket.se for more information.
