MUSICAL MANUSCRIPT. COLLASSE, PASCAL. "Thetis et Pelée Tragedie Mise en musique Par Mr Collasse Maistre de Musique De la Chapelle du Roy" (text on first page). Undated, probably mid- 18th century.
Manuscript copy, text and music, folio (about 390x255 mm), pages numbered 1 (with title and beginning of the overture) - 236 (pp. 30, 170, and 236 blank).
Contemporary brown full calf, worn, gilt borders, on upper cover gilt nobel monogram PD under earls coronet (Pontus De la Gardie), on lower cover the gilt armorial weapon of the De la Gardie family, gilt inner borders, gilt edges of covers, cracks in the joints, richly gilt spine in seven compartments, all edges gilt. A few brownspots. Old stamp "H. 1" in upper margin of title. Old annotation "T. 1. PAG. 342" and "8-95"on first endpaper. Bookplate of F. P. De la Gardie and Arvid Posse.
Pascal Collasse (Colasse, 1649-1709), a minor French composer, studied under Lully and finished Lully's last opera after his death in 1687.
Pontus Fredrik De la Gardie (1726-1791), count, military, captain at the regiment Royal Suédois in France 1745, lieutenant general, dismissed 1774, one of the Kings counselors 1778, see Carlander II: p. 576.
