Small 8:o (about 160x95 mm.). (2), (2), 3-100 pp. Engraved throughout. Title and last but one page within decorative border, text within simple borders, some fullpage illustrations, some vignettes.
Contemporary red morocco binding, wide gilt borders, gilt edges of covers, richly gilt spine in six compartments, all edges gilt. Some minor foxing. Rare.
Dedicated to madame la marquise de Maintenon (Françoise d'Aubigné, 1635-1719), married to Louis XV in a morganatic marriage.
