WORLD MAP. STOOPENDAAL, D. Orbis terrarum tabula recens emendata et in lucem edita. No place (Amsterdam, Pieter and Jacob Keur) no date, (c. 1710-20).
Hand-coloured engraved double-hemisphere world map surrounded by scenes with ciruclar astronomical diagrams in place of the north and south polar circles, and extensive allegorical scenes in each corner depiction the four continents. C. 355x460 mm. Dutch text on verso. Framed.

The scenes depict various scenes from the four parts of the world. California depicted as an Island, in Asia you can see the Great Wall of China. Western Australia, Van Diemens Land and New Zealand are shown with incomplete coastlines.
World map from the Dutch bible edition by Hedrik and Jacob Keur. Engraved by Stoopendaal after information by A. Hogeboom. Shirley notes it as "a finely-executed general map in two hemispheres with the same corner decorations as on the Visscher-Berchem map of 1658. Shirley describes the decorations copied from the Visscher map as "classical scenes representing the rape of Persephone, Zeus being carried across the heavens in an eagle-drawn chariot, Poseidon commanding his entourage, and Demeter receiving the fruits of the Earth."
