AN UNDERGLAZED LEAF-SHAPED DISH, the center painted with a couple standing between a composite peony and prunus tree, a brace of quail pecking away in the foreground, the rim brown-dressed, Qianlong period (1736-95), length c. 39 cm
The form and design of this dish is reminiscent of Japanese Kakiemon porcelain of the late seventeenth century, which due to its popularity in Europe was copied at Meissen in circa 1740, when the chinoiserie figures were added.
