4to (280x200 mm.). Richly illustrated with engravings and colour plates. 68 plates reproduced from originals in the collection of Joseph Grego (some in colour), extra-illustrated with 283 18th-19th century engravings and etchings etc. (including 2 folding, one monochrome water-colour, some hand-coloured, many mounted), mostly comprising portraits and few caricatures. Limited edition of 1000 copies.
Red original cloth with gilt decor, gilt title on spine, gilt upper edge, otherwise uncut, partly worn bindings, faded spines. Vol. I partly with dampstains and foxing, otherwise some spotting and foxing. Bookplates removed. Some minor tears to a few plates.

Henry Angelo (1755-1835), fencing master, collector and friend of Rowlandson and others, published prints by Rowlandson (q.v.). Wrote a volume of memoirs, and formed his own extra-illustrated copy in 11 folio volumes, which was sold at Sotheby´s in 1903. (British Museum).
