Engraved frontispiece (close cut, mended marginal tears), title printed in red and black (close cut, partly laid down, mended marginal tears), 3 folding engraved maps (one of Constantinople, some minor marginal tears), 2 folding engraved portraits (1 defextive with large pictorial loss), 15 partly folding or double-page engraved plates (of 23?, 6 partly defective with pictorial loss, 2 folding woodcut plates (one of Constantinople, one with mended tears), many full-page and other woodcuts in text (some missing due to missing leaves).
Late 19th-century brown half calf, worn, gilt spine, some damage at foot, red edges. About 50 leaves damaged, of which about 20 with larger loss of text (partly crudely mended). Dampstaining, foxing.

The greater part of the work comprises a history of the wars between Turkey and Hungary and the recent Venetian-Turkish campaigns in southern Greece from 1684 to 1688. The work also contains ´curious representations of the aborigines of America, all with detailed descriptions of their manners, customs, religion´ (Sabin) and a German edition of the Koran, edited by Johan Lange.

Most of the missing leaves and plates loosely supplied in facsimile.
