Contemporary black morocco, somewhat worn, gilt and blindtooled frames to the boards, gilt inner dentelles, partly gilt edges of boards, richly gilt spine in five compartments, all edges gilt. Front edge with coloured fore-edge painting (motif from Edinburgh with people in the front). Old inscription in upper margin of engraved extra title. Bookplate of Richard Cripps.
