8:o (about 225x145 mm.). (7), viii, (1)-54, (2 blank) + 48 pp. in Manchu, printed on double-folded Chinese paper + 1 leaf with the title in Manchu and Chinese, printed on yellow paper, facing the English wrapper, worn title.
Sewn as issued, wrapper pasted over original printed. Sir Thomas Phillipps copy inscribed "MHC" and with shelf-mark in ink on inside of upper cover. Preserved in a new foldover brown cloth case.

Meadows served for a number of years at the consulate in Canton, having earlier studied Chinese in Munich.
