Contemporary vellum, redspeckled edges. Titles slightly mended, with some of the printing years filled in. Partly some foxing or browning. Titles and first endpapers with old signatures. 2 volumes.

Castanheda´s work on the dominions of Dom Manuel I in eight books was originally published in Portuguese in seven volumes in the years 1551-62. The present edition is an Italian translation of books I-VII. A re-issue appeared in 1578. Chapters XXVII-XXXI (ff. 25-32) in book four contain a description of China, which is centered on Castanheda´s account of the Portuguese embassy in 1517.
