The appendix (pp. 233-258) containing "quelques notes, qu´on s´est efforcé de rendre attachantes, sur la Chine, ses moeurs, sa religion" includes a letter by Francesco Xavier Maresca, the former Bishop of Nanjing, on pp. 238-243, dated "Chang-hai, le 30 novembre 1854" and an "Extrait d´un Mémoire sur l´état des missions catholiques de la Compagnie de Jésus dans la province de Nankin, par R. P. [Nicolas] Brouvillon" on pp. 244-252.
