Leipzig 1620.

Small 4:o. (24), (1)-160, 159-526, 529-695, (1) pp. Title with engraved figural border (partly foxed, closer cut in outer and lower margins).
Contemporary vellum, somewhat worn, black frames, within in corners flowers, on middle of covers a decoration in black of the Russian double eagle within an ovale, ties missing, covers somewhat warped, spine in five compartments, all edges gilt and partly gauffered. Endpapers missing. 4 unpaginated leaves in the beginning dampstained in outer part, pp. 367-374 and 423-430 dampstained in the margins, partly some foxing (4 pages harder) and browning.

The engraved title with the young tsar Michael (probably the first known picture of the tsar) and the patriarch Filaret Nikititch.

Provenance: Gustaf Oscar Ludvig (Gösta) Nobel (1886-1955), youngest son of Ludvig and Edla Nobel, was in Baku between 1914-17 and later took over as Managing Director over Branobel or "The Nobel Brothers Company". The oil company was founded in Baku by his father and the two brothers Alfred and Robert. He and his family had to flee Russia 1918 during the Russian revolution.
