Soulsby 51. Hulth 5. Sixth i.e. the 3rd original edition, dedicated to count Tessin. The edition was completely rewritten by Linnaeus and heavily enlarged. This is also the first illustrated edition.

Tenth i.e. fourth original edition of the systema. It is in this edition that Linnaeus carried out the definitive plan of binominal nomenclature, with diagnosis and synonyms, for the first time, including the generic and trivial names, which together form the specific name, of each animal. This edition has therefore been accepted as the basis of zoological nomenclature.
