FRENCH EDITION OF HYPNERTOMACHIA POLIPHILI. (COLONNA, FRANCESCO) - BÉROALDE DE VERVILLE. Le tableau des riches inventions couvertes du voile ses feintes amoureuses, qui sont representees dans Le songe de Poliphile, des voilees des ombres du songe, & subtilement exposees par Beroalde. Paris (chez Matthieu Guillemot) 1600.

4:o (about 254x189 mm.). (20, including engraved title, last leaf blank), 1-154, (1blank), (6) ll. Engraved title-page, woodcut initials and headpieces, about 180 woodcut illustrations (some full-page).
Later (19th century) brown calf, somewhat worn, blind-tooled borders, inner gilt borders, gilt edges of covers, spine in six compartments, red edges. (signed Thierry SR de Petit-Simier on verso of first endpaper). Dedication leaf mended in lower outer corner. Leaves 115-121 some staining in outer margin, last 5 leaves dampstained, some foxing, 1 page harder. Old overwritten inscription in lower margin of dedication leaf, inscription on leaf 18 verso, some scribbling in outer margin of leaf 28 recto, d:o on leaf 109 verso, inkstains on leaf 19 and 25 recto, part of old inscription in upper margin of engraved title.
