Oblong folio (300x210 mm.). Engraved frontispiece by G. C. Eimmart, (4), 13 pp. (in German, the Latin text missing). 62 engraved plates, of which 3 folding by David Eimmart after Klöker Ehrenstrahl (complete, all with the numbers printed in the lower right hand corner, engraved title with new inner margin, plates with some spotting and some folds, a few larger stains, 1 plate with narrow outer margin, plate 3 with large repair and some staining, 1 plate shaved to outer margin, 1 plate reinforced to verso of inner margin, plate 61 mounted and partly stained, some minor tears and a few minor repairs, mostly marginal).
19th century blue full calf binding, worn and rubbed, upper cover with title in gilt under three royal crowns, blindtooled gilt bordure, slightly warped, richly gilt spine in compartments, slightly faded, inner gilt dentelles, cut from French antiquarian catalogue on flyleaf. Printed title with staining and dampstaining to margins, fold, year 1672 in handwriting, staining on verso, second leaf repaired (slightly affecting text), some spotting and staining.

Lacking text in Latin (18 pages) and the sometimes present naval plate by Eimmart. The Royal Library only mentions 62 plates.

David Klöker Ehrenstrahl (1628-1698), Swedish court painter 1659, the leading Swedish painter of the second half of the 17th century.
At the accession of king Charles XI in 1672 there was a series of festivities and tournaments, which he commemorated in drawings of illuminations, parades on horses, people in historical costumes, of which 20 with different groups of Osmans. The engraving of these was entrusted to Georg Cristoph Eimmart the younger in Nuremberg, who was appointed engraver to the king of Sweden.

Charles XI came to the throne in 1672, at the age of seventeen. The ceremonies were spectacular, featuring processions of horses in parade dress, feast and firework displays.
