4:o (about 292x198 mm.). (12), 1-428, (20) pp. Title with woodcut printer´s device, woodcut illustrations and diagrams, woodcut music.
Near contemporary vellum, yellowed and somewhat spotted, worming in inner margins, blank spine with some worming, red-marbled edges. Title mended in inner margin and foxed, 4 leaves in the beginning (tauola) stained with wormholes and mendings in inner margin, last 5 leaves with worming, last 10 leaves dampstained in outer margins, a few leaves mended in inner margin, about 12 leaves reinforced in inner margin (or inserted on later guards), some foxing, 5 leaves harder. Old signatures and old stamp on title, signature with text "Dom(inic)o Mochi da S. Archangelo" on a few leaves, some old marginal annotations.

Gioseffo Zarlino (1517-1590), Italian musical theorist and composer of the Renaissance. He was possibly the most famous European music theorist between Aristoxenus and Rameau, and made a large contribution to the theory of counterpoint as well as to musical tuning. (Wikipedia).
