Folio (270x195). (84), 815, (1 blank) pp. 1 full page woodengraved map (some browning in upper part), 2 full page wood engraved printer´s devices (the last with burnholes in outer margin and dampstained in the margins). About 460 woodcuts in the text, of which 10 larger.
Near contemporary brown full calf, worn and renovated, blindtooled decorations on covers, spine mended in the joints and in four compartments, later inner doublures and first endpaper. Title with small paper loss in outer margin and browned in the margins. Last leaf in index with paperloss in outer margin. About 10 leaves with small burnholes, mostly in the margins, 5 leaves with tears, partly small inkstains in outer margin. Pp. 359-524 with small paperloss in upper outer margin. Partly dampstained, mostly in the margins, but about 50 leaves harder. Some leaves in upper margin with small tears. Old (16th century) annotations on old first endpapers. New first endpaper with annotations. Bookplate of J. O. Wedberg.

During the 16th century about 14 different editions in Latin, French, Italian, Dutch, and German were published. This book is still one of the most important sources of Northern customs and daily life of the time.
Olaus Magnus (1490-1557) was the last Catholic Archbishop of Sweden, which he left in 1524.
