Quibus officia, instrumenta, machinae, ac omnia denique ad metallicam spectantia, non modò luculentissimè describuntur, sed etiam per effiges, suis locis insertas, adiunctis Latinis, Germanicisque appellationibus ita ab oculos ponuntur, vt clarius tradi non possint. Eiusdem De animantibus subterraneis liber, ab autore recognitus: cum indicibus diuersis, quicquid in opere tractatum est, pulchrè demonstrantibus, atque omnibus nunc iterum ad archetypum diligenter restitutis & castigatis. (12, last 2 blank), 1-502 (pp. 121-132 bound before p. 109), (74, lacks last blank leaf) pp. Title and last page with woodcut printer´s device, 2 woodcut plates, 267 woodcuts, partly full-page, in text by Hans Rudolph Manuel Deutsch and others, and 23 woodcut geometrical figures.
New (20th century) half vellum, slightly worn. Title with two large brownspots and some small holes after removed inscriptions. One small marginal burnhole, minor foxing.

Georgius Agricola (1494-1555), Georg Pawer (today Bauer), better known by the Latin version of his name Georgius Agricola, is considered the founder of geology as a discipline. His work paved the way for further systematic study of the earth and of its rocks, minerals, and fossils. He made fundamental contributions to mining geology and metallurgy, mineralogy, structural geology, and paleontology.
