A YAOZHOU CELADON ´DUCKS AND LOTUS´ SIX-LOBED BOWL, of wide conical form, supported on a low foot ring encircling the slightly convex foot, the interior impressed with the scene of a lotus pond with two ducks swimming and two lotus leaf, below a foliate scroll band, covered overall with an olive-green glaze, marked with label ´H R N Norton collection´, Northern Song dynasty, 11/12th century, diameter c. 13 cm
PROVENANCE:
From the collection of the Principal Sture Nydell (1891-1986) and his wife, Valborg Nydell (1905-2003). The bowl was purchased at an auction in 1963 at Sotheby´s, London, earlier in the collection of H R N Norton.
