A YAOZHOU CELADON-GLAZED BOWL, moulded to the interior with a central floral medallion encircled by scrolling leafy stems issuing chrysanthemum sprays, the exterior carved with radiating petal design, covered overall in an olive green glaze, marked with label ´John Sparks´, Northern Song dynasty (960-1127), diameter c. 20.5 cm
PROVENANCE:
From the collection of the Principal Sture Nydell (1891-1986) and his wife, Valborg Nydell (1905-2003). The bowl was purchased at an auction in 1961 at Sotheby´s, London.
