A CIZHOU JAR, the shouldered jar covered in slip and boldly painted in brown with flower sprays and stylised foliate motifs, all covered in a finely crackled glaze, Yuan/Ming dynasty, 13/14th century, height c. 12 cm
PROVENANCE:
From the collection of the Principal Sture Nydell (1891-1986) and his wife, Valborg Nydell (1905-2003). The jar was purchased by Nydell at an auction in April 1960 at Bruun Rassmusen, Copenhagen. Earlier in the collection of Louis Foght. Prior to that in the collections of Ole Olsen and Kaj Lange.
