A RARE CARVED LONGQUAN CELADON JAR AND COVER, the jar has an ovoid body divided into six lobes and is carved and combed with a band of pendent petals and leafy scrolling foliage, the domed cover is decorated with an dog-form finial. The jar and cover are covered with an olive-green glaze with the exception of the base and the interior of the cover, Northern Song dynasty, 10th century, height c. 25.5 cm

Purchased 1987, from the collection of the Swedish author and board member of the friendship association of ´The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities´, Gustaf Hilleström (1911-1994).
