Jean de Jullienne (1686-1766) var en förgrundsfigur bland de mest passionerade samlarna under 1700-talet. Han var son till en av de holländska köpmän som Colbert förmått komma till Paris och fick sådan framgång med sitt företag att han samlade på sig en enorm förmögenhet, och kunde så tillägna sig en enastående konstsamling med med nära femhundra tavlor. Han stödde och beskyddade Watteau men samlade även på verk av Poussin Rembrandt och Tizian. Dessutom hade han en samling mästerverk från tre skolor: den nordiska, italienska och franska.

Jean de Julienne (1686-1766) was icon among the most passionate collectors of the 18th century. He was the son of one of those dutch merchants persuaded by Colbert to move to Paris. His enterprise prospered to the point of enabling him to make a tremendous fortune and consequently to build a collection of almost five hundred paintings. He supported and protected Watteau but also collected Poussin, Rembrandt and Tizian. In addition he collected masterpieces from three schools: Nordic, Italian and French.

Figure emblématique de son époque, Jean de Jullienne (1686-1766) est l´un des collectionneurs les plus passionnés du XVIIIème siècle. Fils de marchands hollandais appelés à Paris par Colbert, il fait fructifier son entreprise et amasse ainsi une immense fortune qui lui permet de réunir une extraordinaire collection de près de cinq cent tableaux. Mécène et protecteur de Watteau, il collectionne également Poussin, Rembrandt, Titien, rassemblant les chef-d ´ouvres des trois écoles, nordique, italienne et française.
