Julius Schulz is best known as a military painter, who exhibited at the Berlin Academy from 1824-46. His paintings were acquired by Nicholas I, where they hung at the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoe Selo. Many were sold off to the west by the Soviets in the 1930's.
