Arabic manuscript, Quran, comprising about 300 sheets in ink on waxed paper, 1 double-page title sheet in blue, pink and gold (1 page lined, some repairs and some loss, some tears, reinforced on the back), text in black, etc. gold “points “within a framework of gold. Total area approx 120x75, text area approx 95x55. Probably early 19th century.
Slightly worn contemporary ribbon with leather back and lacquered binders with gold decor and frames in red and green, inner double ruffles with decoration of flowers in gold on red background, reinforced in the binding, slightly damaged front cover. Partially slightly tarnished and sunken, minor tears.
Quran Sura 1 and sura 2:1 —4 on each its decorated side with the suras' names at the top and the number of verses and the surah's provenance from Medina in black in gold medallions.
In the margins shîcitic traditions. The last two pages contain a Persian text with prayers and references to the book Fath al-Abwâb “The Opening of the Gates” by Radîaddîn Calî Ibn Ta'ûs (589/1193—664/1266, senior official of Nadjaf s. about Baghdad). No colophon with the printer's name or dating.
