With 1 engraved folding map [Eine newe Land Karte von Wien biss noch Constantinopel...], 1 engraved folding view with portraits and battle and 137 woodcut illustrations in the text (including 15 views). (Map with tear to one fold, small part missing, spots, stain to margin; view with large part loose (but present), tear, some loss of image, tears to margins; 2 leaves defect or partly defect with large loss of image and text, about 4 with minor loss of image, long tear to leaf 36; text partly spotted, stained and dampstained throughout, partly browned, some burn-marks, about 5 leaves with some minor text loss, also due to fraying and partly shaved in margin, about 10 leaves with tears, some minor worming. Title with repair, no loss, dampstained and spotted, shaved with loss to upper part (Der), creased.
Contemporary full vellum with manuscript title on spine, very worn and stained, split inner hinges, hole to lower board, lacking 1 set of leather ties. Owner's signature on first free endpaper, Ludwig Strålenhielm, dated 4 september 1776.

Only 2 copies can be traced which were offered at auction in the past 40 years. There are copies in the British Library (583.k.7) and the Herzog August Bibliothek, Wolfenbuttel (M: Gv 4o6 and A: 123.5 Hist. 2o).
Rare work which was published as a series of bi-weekly news sheets in the wake of the 1683 siege of Vienna, consisting of single sheets, each with a title ("Türckis. Estats- und Krieges-Bericht") and number, a woodcut on the recto, and from no. 76 onward a date (26 May through 22 Dec. 1684.
Provenance: Ludvig Strålenhielm (1764 in Pomerania - 1797, Smedstad, Sweden), officer at the regiment of East Gothland, Sweden (Östgöta kavalleriregemente).
