A BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDAI.

The smiling figure is seated in rajalalilasana, holding a sack in his left hand and prayer beads in his right. He is dressed in loose robes with chest, stomach and left shoulder exposed, traces of gold lacquer, probably late Ming dynasty, 17th century, height c. 26.5 cm. Weight c. 5.9 kg.

PROVENANCE:
Purchased at Japanska Magasinet, Stockholm, Sweden, during the middle of 20th century.
