"Delil Kayrat". Arabic manuscript on paper, consists of 167 leaves, 9 lines to the page, written in black ink, opening page illuminated inred and gold. 2 pages with fullpage images of Mecca and a mosque (some staining). Full page 155x107 mm, text 110x65 mm.
Contemporary leather binding, worn and with split edges, upper inner joint reinforced, lacking flap. In modern cloth case. (Renovations and case by Per Jonsson, Östersund, 2007). Case c. 165x120 mm.
According to notes in both arabic and German, this manuscript is most probably a war booty from Turkey during the Habsburg-Ottoman war. German note on first free endpaper: "Oberster....

The Austro-Turkish War was fought in 1788–1791 between the Habsburg monarchy and the Ottoman Empire, concomitantly with the Russo-Turkish War (1787–1792). It is sometimes referred to as the Habsburg–Ottoman War or the Austro-Ottoman War.
Provenance: Thore Virgin (1886-1957), officer and one of Sweden's most prominent book collectors of all time. From 1916 he was the owner of and lived at the manor Qvarnfors. His famous incunabula collection was donated to Uppsala University Library.
