RARE WORK ON GREEK MUSIC. GIRONI (ROBUSTIANO). Saggio intorno musica dei Greci. Milano, Dalla tipographia dell’editore dei costumi, 1822.
Folio (375x2564 mm.). Only published in 30 copies on papier velin. 8 hand-coloured aquatint engraved plates of costumes and music instruments and 2 engraved plates of music (complete, some slight spotting, some foxing to margins).
Contemporary red morocco, richly gilt boards with borders and in the middle the the coat-of-arms of Austrian emperor Franz II, gilt inner dentelles, inner doublure and first endpaper of green silk (Italian binding), partly worn, corners bumped, one damaged. Owner's stamp on first free endpaper Cachet Collection Alexandre de Paris.
Rare work only published in 30 copies and with the provenance of emperor Franz II (1768-1835), the work is also dedicated to him.
