Signed ORREFORS SWEDEN ARIEL No 220 E. Öhrström (handwritten signature). Height 20 cm.
HISTORY: This Arielvase has a very unusual decor. Previously, only one vase with the same decor has been sold at auction (Stockholms Auktionsverks Moderna auktion, May 2019. This vase had number 179). In all probability, only these two vases with this pattern have been made.
According to Orrefors' archive, the decor is called "Girl with doll" and it was first sold to a company called Forma in Helsingborg, was returned to the glassworks and then sold to AML Olsson in Malmö, who also returned it and then it was sold to NK in December 1945 for SEK 225. .
This is typical for many of the Ariel glasses produced at the outbreak of and during World War II, that is they were returned to the mill due to lack of demand.
