The Curated Classics & Fine Jewellery Sale

Stockholms Auktionsverk presents The Curated Classics & Fine Jewellery Sale – a live auction where art, works of art, furniture, silver and jewellery come together. Here, collector’s items and cultural heritage unite in an auction spanning several centuries, from the grand Baroque of the 17th century to the refined expressions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The auction features a rich selection of paintings, sculptures and prints, alongside furniture in Gustavian and Empire styles, exquisite gilded bronze objects, splendid silver pieces and sparkling jewellery. Together, they form a panorama of the development of European and Swedish art and craft traditions – from early masterly precision to the artistic refinement of the late 1800s.

One of the highlights of the auction is Jan Ribbhagen’s silver and jewellery collection, which constitutes a significant part of the silver department. Among the Old Masters is a previously unknown work by Adriaen Cornelisz van Salm – a fine example of penschilderij, a technique developed in Holland in the late 17th century that blends drawing and painting by using ink to create a pictorial work.

In the works of art section, there is a pair of exceptional appliques attributed to André-Charles Boulle, produced in the workshops of the Louvre around 1715, at the very end of Louis XIV’s reign. Works by Boulle are extremely rare at auction in Scandinavia, and the quality here is remarkable. In the jewellery category, there is also a pair of natural pearl earrings worn by Princess Augusta Amalia of Bavaria – an object whose royal provenance lends it a particular radiance.

The auction also marks the beginning of a new chapter in Swedish auction history. Stockholms Auktionsverk and Uppsala Auktionskammare have joined forces, bringing together two institutions with roots dating back to the 17th century in a shared future. Together, we are creating a new platform for art, antiques and collectors’ items – founded on deep expertise, passion and respect for history.

The Curated Classics & Fine Jewellery Sale is therefore not only a tribute to timeless beauty, but also a starting point for a new era in which tradition meets innovation, and where the masterpieces of history find new homes and new stories.
