Stockholms Auktionsverk Presents

Sami Art & Handicraft

At the centre stands a truly remarkable ceremonial drum, as Stockholms Auktionsverk now presents Sami Art and Handicraft. It carries a singular history dating back to the summer of 1995, when Lars J:son Nutti, Lars Pirak and Bengt Lindström jointly decorated it in Vaisaluokta – the very place where poet Paulus Utsi once raised the first turf hut.

Yet this marvel is only one among nearly forty carefully selected lots, chosen by the auction house’s specialists for a theme that also includes a 19th-century sledge (ackja), several works by Nils Nilsson Skum, knives, burlwood craftwork, a root basket, and a brightly coloured oil painting by Rose-Marie Huuva.Among much else – for there is more here to discover from the rich traditions of Sami culture.

You are warmly welcome!
