Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5 Presents

Elvine Osterman

She was born in Vänersborg but came to Gothenburg at the age of six in 1914. There, she studied at the School of Design and Crafts as well as at the Valand Academy of Fine Arts, where one of her teachers was Tor Bjurström. The artist in question is Elvine Osterman, a painter who truly embraced the rich color palette of Sweden’s second-largest city.

Her motifs often capture the summer light of the West Coast, yet she was equally drawn to more southern settings — and from Italy, one finds a wealth of café scenes signed Osterman.

At Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5, we are invited to experience the full breadth of Elvine Osterman’s artistry. Here are portraits, still lifes, landscapes, interiors, and even a fully abstract work — all rendered in bold, vibrant colors.

An excellent opportunity for anyone wishing to get acquainted with this refreshing Swedish modernist.

Warmly welcome!
