The potatoes. The sausages. The carrots (which may well be blue!). The ducks. The ostriches. And the mushrooms that seem capable of sprouting in almost any setting. We all recognise them. P. G. Thelander’s repertoire has today become a household presence within modern Swedish art. Like few other printmakers, he has succeeded in reaching beyond the gallery walls with his art. How he has managed this remains unclear, yet his images possess an immediacy that few other artists can command.

At Stockholms Auktionsverk, Magasin 5, we are now offered a fine demonstration of his skill. The selection includes etchings from the 1960s and 1970s, and alongside 26 individual works, the portfolio “7 Etchings” from 1975 is also presented.
