In the themed auction Still Lifes in Summer Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5 shows the many varieties of still life paintings.

Still lifes have been a popular genre in art for the last 500 years and objects often depicted includes flowers, books, candlesticks, glasses, fruits, bottles, instruments and much more.

One of Sweden’s most famous flower still life painters is Olle Hjortzberg and he is represented with a watercolour depicting yellow roses.

Others worth mentioning is Wibeke Beck-Friis fruit bowl with applied textiles reminiscing of antique micro mosaics and also Bengt Hegethorn’s colourful flower vase.
