Eclectic & Decorative
Stockholms Auktionsverk has once again opened the doors to Lilla Kvalitén. Inside, over 550 lots await, and as always, the selection is broad, at times surprising, but consistently defined by quality.
Art delights. Just look at Gustaf Tenggren’s enchanting motifs, Ragnar Sandberg’s Man with Pear, Gottfrid Kallstenius’ Moonlit Night, Einar Norelius’ desolate fairy-tale illustration, and that 18th-century boy’s portrait.
A bold exclamation mark in a small format – and ever-relevant – is Susanna Arwin’s bronze The Swedish Aunt. Next to it, two small gems in the same material by Lisa Larson.
Danish design shines on the decorative arts side with several celebrated models by Arne Jacobsen. Alongside these, there is much more to discover. Erik Mathsson’s Gothenburg cabinet is a masterclass in intarsia craftsmanship. The Tellurium stands as a piece of decorative technology for the library room. Alice Nordin’s signed ceiling lamp is at once exquisite and powerful Swedish Jugend, and Gillis Lundgren’s Sirius armchairs are rare examples of design from the era when IKEA had its own plastic workshop. Add to that late Gustavian Stockholm works, a richly detailed silver bowl, a Baltic Empire piece, and much more.
