The Ca Mau shipwreck involved a Chinese ocean-going junk that was most likely traveling from Canton (now Guangzhou) to the Dutch trading port of Batavia (modern-day Jakarta). The ship met with disaster near the Ca Mau Peninsula when a severe fire broke out on board and sank.
