4to (220x155 mm.). (3), 100 ll. Engraved title with large coat of arms of cardinal Charles Boromée, to whom the book is dedciated, 100 full-page engravings, the designs for the engravings have been assigned to Titian (title reinforced, a few engravings with some ink spotting, 1 remargined with image slightly shaved, restored hole to fol. 44 [with loss of text and image, the latter replaced]; pp. 49 and 51 interchanged and both with text and printed upside down; illustr. 57, 92 & 93 with crack to plate; rep. marginal tear to fol. 62 [small loss of text on recto supplied in ms.]; ms. notes to margins of fol. 83v & 83r). Text browned and stained, heavier and also somewhat waterstained towards the end, a 6 cm long cut to the first 3 leaves, no text loss.
Bound in somewhat later dark brown vellum, upper board with a long cut, partly warped boards, spine with later red title label, speckled edges.
