NEWTON´S NEW TERRESTRIAL POCKET GLOBE. NEWTON, JOHN. Pocket terrestrial globe, (London) 1818, 50 mm (c. 2 inches) diameter, made up of 12 hand-coloured engraved gores, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days and showing the symbols of the houses of the zodiac, the meridian labelled "Meridian of London", in original black fish-skin covered case with two clasps, the inner with engraved mounted gores featuring the Summer, Spring, Winter, Autumn on one side, and the other with the phases of the moon. Pocket globe with a brass pin.
Original varnish, globe partly browned and worn, some loss, case worn and soiled, minor damages.
