Publisher´s burgundy cloth bindings, slight wear, more to corners and upper and lower part of spines, partly split in vol. I and II, gilt titles on spines. Title to vol. I and III partly browned and small trace of paper clip on title to vol I, a few pages with pencil notes. Bookplate of Harald Bildt. 6 volumes.
Provenance: Clara Sophia Jessup Moore (1824-99), born Jessup, an American philanthropist and philosopher. She was married to Bloomfield Haines Moore (1819-78) and later engaged to be married to Robert Browning. Clara J. Moore was the greatgreat grandmother to the present owner.
Harald Knut Clarence Bildt (1876-1947), Swedish baron and diplomat, son of the diplomat Carl Bildt and Lilian Augusta Stuart Moore (one of the three children of Clara J. Moore).
