Large 8vo (230x165 mm). 3 Bl., 198 S., 4 (2 weiße) Bl. 23,5 x 17,5 cm. With 56, of which 26 fullpage plates in colour and decorations after Etienne Dinet (1 plate with repaired tear to margin, slight soiling to a few leaves). One of 375 copies on papier vélin, this is number 369 (total edition of 450 copies). Wrapper and spine bound in.
Brown richly decorated full morocco signed by René Kieffer (with his small label on first endpaper René Kieffer Reliures d´Art), covers decorated with gilt palmtree in the middle on green calf, in the corners red inlay in arabesque style, inner dentelles and fine marbled silk endpapers, gilt spine with one raised band, untrimmed, upper edge gilt (partly rubbed to joints and corners). Antiquarian booklabel from Pierre Chretien Livres Rares on first endpaper, blank paper mounted over bookplate, notes on first free endpaper.

Nasreddine Dinet (born as Alphonse-Étienne Dinet, 1861-1929), French orientalist painter, who converted into islam. The friends Dinet and Silmân Ben Ibrahîm worked on this book for three years. The book is a desciption of the life and adventures of the nomad Si el Hadj Chaïeb el Moghrabi.
