Contemporary brown full mottled calf, somewhat worn, gilt edges of covers, slightly faded gilt spine in six compartments, some minor damages at head and foot, marbled edges. Engraved armorial bookplate of "Algernon Capell, Earl of Essex, Viscount Maldon, and Baron Capell of Hadham. 1701" (mounted on verso of title).
The rare first edition of Hobbes´ translation of the Odyssey. His translation of The Iliads was published in 1676.
