Folio. (6), (1)-32 pp. Title, dedication leaf to king Gustav IV Adolf (both soiled and with repairs). Lacking 12 pages. 24 engraved plates (lacking 46 plates, a few plates with slight spotting, 1 with repair to outer margin, text with some minor foxing). All plates uncoloured.
Modern dark red morocco binding, spine in compartments, minor spot.

This beautiful bird book was printed in a small edition and is very rare complete. Plates were engraved by among others Johan Peter Boström and Fredrik Akrel. Anders Sparrman started to work on this project in1805 and the first plates were published in 1806. 68 engraved plates were published in 11 parts. 25 of the plates were also included in Sparrman's important work Museum Carlsonianum (1786-89).
Text not complete, but with the dedication leaf to king Gustav IV Adolf.
