A LONGQUAN CELADON STEM CUP, the heavily-potted cup has deep rounded sides that rise to a slightly everted rim, impressed in the center of the interior with a lotus blossom, the stem foot is encircled by two bands to imitate bamboo. It is covered overall with a sea-green glaze suffused with crackle, Yuan/Ming, 13/14th century, height c. 12 cm
PROVENANCE:
From the collection of the Principal Sture Nydell (1891-1986) and his wife, Valborg Nydell (1905-2003). The stem cup was purchased from the antique dealer "Bengt in Haga", Gothenburg 1971.
