The Jewellery Box
If you so much as crack open the door to the jewellery department at Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5, it sparkles and gleams. There, a wealth of delights has been hand-picked and is now presented under the theme The Jewellery Box.
The assortment is both rich and multifaceted, spanning everything from contemporary jewellery art to antique pieces.
Among the most magnificent works in the auction is Björn Jägerstig’s bracelet in 18K gold set with 13 cabochon-cut rubies. In terms of expression, it stands in striking contrast to Wiwen Nilsson’s restrained pendant in his signature materials: silver and rock crystal. And for those with a particular interest in historical jewellery, Friedrich Silber’s ring in 18K gold and enamel may merit a closer look. Silber was active in Karlskrona between 1776 and 1812, and this piece was created in 1799.
These three examples share the stage with necklaces, brooches, cameos, rings and cufflinks, all crafted in noble materials. A ring in 18K white gold with a large fantasy-cut sapphire draws the eye, as does the small French case, created during one of the most decorative eras in stylistic history.
