4to (230x185 mm). xxix, 268 pp. Throughout with colour diagrams printed in red, blue, yellow and black, wood-engraved initials.
Original blue decorated cloth, partly faded, gilt-lettered spine, sightly faded, small part missing to upper part, minor split to upper joints, inner joints split, gilt edges. Modern blue cloth cassette. Somewhat weak in the binding. Text and plates partly foxed, some spotting. Owner´s note on first free yellow endpaper.

1000 copies were printed of this attractive book, which at the time was a commercial failure due to this difficult and expensive technique. It was also exhibited at the Crystal Palace in 1851.
